What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

In the Northwest Region of Cameroon, the use of fuel wood is increasingly becoming an environmental hazard. The pressure on the small patches of forest by the rural population has contributed enormously in environment terror due to the price and inaccessibility of energy. Schools and institutions are no exception. The small scale waste recycling and bio gas project is a years project aimed at introducing bio gas in rural areas.

How will this project solve this problem?

The global objective of this project is to improve access to innovative energy renewal technologies and contribute to conservation, discourage deforestation

Let's be Proactive Now
By NDI Eugene NDI, NAYD Cameroon CC
Dear Cameroonians
Permit me to say a BIG thank you to Paul Shaw for his relentless efforts towards the promotion of our activities. No one will argue the fact that a strong advocacy is possible without the social media and I think Paul is doing just what we need at this era that the world has become a global village. No one will also argue the fact that introducing a new product is not always easy. Thus the building of country pages that he has embarked on is a new product we need to exploit.

As I say it is difficult to anticipate how this new product would be received by the potential beneficiaries; I mean the various countries. I want Cameroon to welcome it with zeal and make good use of it. I know the major challenge we are facing in Cameroon is access to the internet. Not withstanding, I wish to enjoin you to brave this challenge and make maximum use of the country page.

According to the Cambridge Advanced Learner’s dictionary, third edition, network is “a large system consisting of many similar parts that are connected to allow movement or communication between or along the parts or between the parts and a control centre”. Why have I chosen to use this definition? Obviously because many of us joined the Network of African Youth for Development and have forgotten the meaning of a NETWORK. If we thus go by the above definition, we see that we are a large system with similar parts but we are NOT connected. May be because of our geographical locations, but with the new country page, we can be connected irrespective of our geographical locations.

We are today’s youth and tomorrow’s leaders. So let’s empower our tomorrow’s leaders today by using the country page to assert our achievements, actions, intentions and aspirations. I thus enjoin you to get on board for we are taking off. Remember advocates are the voice of the voiceless, so we need to be connected to act for public interest. NAYD is the lone platform that we can utilize to demonstrate our strength in advocating.
